With the holiday season approaching, Time Out Market Budapest drew attention to the power of community and the importance of charity in a special way this year: in collaboration with the Baptist Charity Service, it hosted 250 disadvantaged children and their companions for a delicious lunch at Budapest’s newest gastronomic and cultural center, the Corvin Palace building on Blaha Lujza Square.

One of the city’s most exciting new meeting places, Time Out Market Budapest was the venue for a fun, children-filled event. The 250 children invited by the Baptist Charity Service were seated at community tables, while the teams from Market 11 restaurants prepared a menu specially created for the occasion, especially for children. The children who arrived were able to taste dishes from award-winning and emerging restaurants such as Anyukám Mondta, Pingrumba, 101 Bistro, Szaletly, CANTEEN by Pesti István, Casa Christa, Bigfish, Tuning Burger, M’EAT by Rácz Jenő, LIRA by Essência and Hai Nam Pho. The special menu prepared for the event included popular dishes such as mini burgers, spring rolls and margherita pizza, and desserts were also available: tiramisu and cheesecake awaited the children. Along with the lunch, Toma fruit juices were served on the tables courtesy of Szentkirályi Magyarország, and filtered water was provided with the support of BWT.

However, the event was about more than just delicious snacks. True to the spirit of Time Out Market, the gastronomic experience was complemented by experiences: the children were able to meet Santa Claus in person, and thanks to the Regio Játék offering, everyone could go home with a gift. In addition, the Market team also organized an exciting game: upon arrival, every child received a raffle ticket, and three lucky winners won a Market gift voucher worth HUF 50,000. The idea for the game was inspired by the legendary television show of the 80s and 90s, Three Wishes, in one of the broadcasts of which the host, Tibor Dévényi, fulfilled a little girl’s dream of shopping with her mother in the silence of the Corvin Department Store before it opened – in the same building that now houses Time Out Market Budapest.
