Beiersdorf AG's profit grow by 25%
Net income increased to 553 million euros ($738 million) from 442 million euros in 2007. Total revenue advanced 8.5 percent to 5.97 billion euros in the year.
Beiersdorf’s skin and beauty care
business again clearly outperformed the market and has demonstrated
an encouraging ability to withstand the current economic climate,”
Chief Executive Officer Thomas Quaas said in the statement.
Sales of skin and beauty care products
rose 8.6 percent last year, excluding acquisitions and currency
fluctuations, meeting the company’s target of at least 8 percent.
L’Oreal SA, the world’s largest cosmetics maker, cut its sales
and profit forecasts three times last year.
Sales at Tesa, Beiersdorf’s
adhesive-tape unit, were little changed at 845 million euros,
compared with 846 million euros in the previous year, as the economic
slowdown hurt demand in the car industry, the company said.
