2.5 billion HUF was spent on chocolate last year during Santa Claus and Christmas
Consumers bought approximately 700 tons of seasonal candies for about two and a half billion forints between November 2011 and January 2012.
Compared to the same period of the previous year a 4 percent occurred in the value of sales, while quantity decreased by 3 percent. Consumers like chocolate Santa Claus figures the best. More than half of the sales were made up by these figurines – shows Nielsen’s Retail Index.
The traditional Santa's package follows the figurines in popularity with a 14 percent market share ratio in value. Advent calendars are also popular, with a market share of 11 percent.
