Record sales in 2022, investments, online developments at Praktiker
In addition to investments and developments, thanks to state subsidies that indirectly affect the construction industry, the Hungarian Praktiker continued to grow even in the challenging last year. The do-it-yourself store chain with a dominant market position, which is 25 years old this year, increased its sales by 13 percent to HUF 95.5 billion in 2022, while its profit after tax increased by nearly 11 percent, to HUF 6.7 billion. Due to the continuing challenges this year and the expected decrease in real earnings, increasing operational efficiency and the development of online services remain a priority goal.
The Hungarian Praktiker further increased its sales in 2022, so the company once again closed a record year. The excellent result is due, on the one hand, to continuous investments, developments, and the growth of online sales, and on the other hand, to the fact that several factors last year, such as the Home Renovation Grant, the SZJA refund, and the boom in the construction industry that was still experienced last year fueled the increase in purchasing power. The company, which operates 20 DIY stores, successfully responded to the challenges that arose during the year, such as supply problems caused by the Russian-Ukrainian war, as well as rising energy and raw material prices. Thanks to all of this, Praktiker’s sales in 2022 increased from HUF 84.1 billion in the previous year by 13.4 percent to HUF 95.5 billion, and its profit after tax increased by 10.9 percent to HUF 6.7 billion. The sanitary, garden, cold cladding, building materials and lighting categories contributed the most to the growing sales revenue in 2022, so these can be considered the most popular product groups. The product group related to heating showed the greatest growth in connection with the fact that in the second half of last year the topic of energy and thus alternative heating solutions came to the fore.
