Lidl helps more than 2,000 families at Christmas
Lidl Hungary considers social responsibility to be a matter of its heart, in the spirit of which it has been organizing a fundraising program for many years, including on the occasion of the holiday of love. Thanks to this year’s unusual initiative, the company handed over nearly HUF 20 million worth of food to the Baptist Charity Service. The organization used the food to distribute hot meals to 450 needy people, and to another 2,000 families living in difficult circumstances, they delivered durable food packages, thereby making the holidays more beautiful for them.
As part of its social responsibility activities, Lidl Hungary primarily focuses on disadvantaged children and their families, so its Christmas fundraising initiatives also serve this purpose. This year, the discount chain announced its charity campaign in an unusual way, in which it also asked for the cooperation of customers. The public favorite protagonist of the company’s holiday advertising campaign, the raccoon, could be purchased in the stores between November 16 and December 10, 2023, in the form of a cute plush figure by those who wanted to support a good cause. The company donated all of the proceeds to charity, so those who bought the plush raccoon will, together with Lidl, make the Christmas of families in need more beautiful. The company donated nearly HUF 20,000,000 collected during the campaign to the Baptist Charity Service in the form of a food donation.
