The start of the school year can cause financial difficulties for many families, and there are those for whom it is an almost impossible task to buy all the necessary equipment for the children. The Hungarian Charity Service of Malta and SPAR Hungary’s Giving Joy! school supplies collection campaign, which was launched for the first time in 2021. As part of the charity initiative, customers could support the start of school for needy children with school supplies and donation cards purchased in stores. And from the income of the latter, the charity service bought additional school supplies.
“We announced the collection so that the children are not disadvantaged in school due to difficulties at home. With the support of SPAR Hungary’s customers, we have now managed to help 1,600 families. Notebooks, stationery, pen holders, other school supplies, gym equipment went into customer baskets, our volunteers filled ready-to-use schoolbags with donations, or put together unit packages for elementary and high school students, which we delivered to families requesting help from the charity service in all parts of the country. Thank you for the support of everyone who contributed to the collection in the past few weeks by purchasing donation cards, or by personally purchasing educational materials in INTERSPAR hypermarkets and handing them over to the charity.”
– said Tamás Romhányi, communications manager of the Hungarian Maltese Charity Service.
