Henkel Hungary has been supporting the dedicated work of the Piros Norr Clown Doctors Foundation for 15 years
The initiative, which has now become an exemplary social collaboration, was launched in November 2010. The Red Nose Clown Doctors Foundation has been receiving continuous support for 15 years through a charity program implemented in cooperation between Henkel and SPAR Hungary, which also involves customers. The result: donations worth tens of millions of forints, new hospital visits, innovative programs and smiles on the faces of thousands.
The cooperation is based on a simple, yet effective consumer promotion model. During the sale period, Henkel donates a certain amount to the Red Nose Clown Doctors Foundation for Persil detergents and Silan fabric softeners purchased in SPAR and INTERSPAR stores – and in recent years, also on the SPAR Online platform. The special feature of the initiative is that the support is implemented directly through everyday shopping, as consumers help by shopping for their own households. This model proves its strength year after year, because without the active participation of customers, the program could not have become a tradition.
The cooperation between Henkel and SPAR also goes beyond a campaign period. From the beginning, the common goal was to ensure that the commercial presence and brand awareness achieve a real social impact. SPAR’s national store network ensures broad reach, and Henkel creates the financial basis for the implementation of the programs with its brands and offerings. Over the past decade and a half, the amount of support collected through the campaigns contributed to the clown doctors being able to start their regular visits to the pediatric wards of new hospitals, healing laughter was also brought to rural institutions, and the number of professional teams was also expanded. The support not only made traditional ward visits possible. The joint collaboration resulted in, for example, the “Music Caravan” program, which offers a musical experience to children requiring special care. Over the years, interactive hospital performances, regular clown doctor presence introduced in new regions, and visit series launched in children’s wards in the capital and rural areas have been implemented. Thanks to the initiative, sick children can now meet the red-nosed clowns in countless institutions across the country.
“The past 15 years are not just a result that can be measured in numbers, but a shared responsibility that we are happy to be a part of. I believe that by working together with our commercial partner and consumers, we can bring tangible change: new visits, expanded programs and unforgettable moments for thousands. After fifteen years, our goal remains the same: to bring healing laughter to as many children as possible”
– said Maurizio Salvaggio, Henkel Hungary Consumer Brands Business Unit Director.
The Red Nose Clown Doctors have been working to relieve anxiety and aid recovery within the walls of hospitals since 1996. The specially trained performers visit the children’s wards in pairs, and in consultation with the nursing staff, they adapt their improvisational play to the patients’ condition. The goal in each case is to replace fear and tension with serenity – since a positive state of mind is an important part of the healing process.
