Industrial sunflower seed prices up 12 percent in one year

According to data from Stratégie Grains, spot sunflower seeds were traded in Argentina at a price level of $12 lower, at $425/ton (FOB Buenos Aires) between September 12 and October 17. Spot-to-December export prices (FOB) rose by $16 in Saint-Nazaire, France, and by $10 in Bordeaux, both to $590/ton.

At the same time, spot export prices for sunflower seeds in Bulgaria fell by $18 to $620/ton (FOB). Sunflower seeds were traded in the Netherlands at $665/ton (+$25, CIF Amsterdam) in mid-October. According to the European Commission, the price of sunflower seeds (FOB) in Bordeaux, France, was 634–721 dollars/ton, and in Ukraine 485–520 dollars/ton between October 1 and November 12. According to AKI PÁIR data, processors and traders bought high oleic sunflower seeds (HO) for 218.7 thousand forints/ton (+13 percent), and high oil content (LO) for 196.4 thousand forints/ton (+8 percent) in the first week of November. The producer price of industrial sunflower seeds (including high oleic sunflower seeds) excluding VAT and transport costs was on average 207 thousand forints/ton (+12 percent).
