Tesco and the Food Bank cook 10,000 servings of paprika potatoes for those in need
Tesco and the Hungarian Food Bank Association are celebrating the 10th anniversary of their strategic partnership with large-scale charity events.
To begin with, Tesco employees prepared 5,000 portions of sweet potato fries and coconut balls for the needy in the supermarket chain’s parking lot in Budaörs on Thursday. In the coming weeks, the program series “Cook it well” will visit all 10 Tesco regions in the country to provide a total of ten thousand portions of hot food and dessert to needy people.
The partnership between Tesco and the Food Bank started in 2014 with the aim of delivering products left in stores to those in need on a daily basis. With food rescue work, it is possible to prevent that food that has become redundant, can no longer be marketed, but is still perfectly suitable for consumption ends up in the landfill, instead ending up on the tables of people with a difficult fate. In addition, the collection of near-expiry products or products with faulty packaging not only plays a significant role in the fight against deprivation, but also protects nature from the environmentally destructive effects of waste.
