The MAHOP PLUSZ project, which develops fish management data collection, has been successfully completed
On January 31, 2025, the project “Development of the MAHOP PLUSZ DCF Fisheries Data Collection Framework” implemented by the AKI Institute of Agricultural Economics Nonprofit Ltd. was successfully completed, which was established with the support of the Hungarian Fisheries Operative Program Plus (MAHOP PLUSZ). The project, co-financed by the European Union and Hungary, was implemented with 105 million forints within the framework of the Széchenyi Plan Plus program – writes Agrárszektor.
Purpose and implementation of the project
The project was implemented by the AKI Institute of Agricultural Economics, the main goal of which was to develop domestic fisheries data collection processes. The development ensures the availability of the necessary data for the specialized administration and the European Commission, and contributes to better transparency in the fisheries sector.
As a result of the project, AKI renewed the fisheries data collection system, which allows for more efficient data processing and analysis. In addition, a new national work plan for the period 2025-2027 has been prepared, which will form the basis for the future development of data collection processes.
Key results
The main results of the project include:
Increasing the efficiency of data collection, which will enable the representative collection of economic and social data of fish farmers.
The results of data collection will lead to more informed policy-making, which will help the sustainable development of the fisheries sector.
Determining the annual volume of domestic fish consumption per capita and the production value of the fisheries sector.
