China can be self-sufficient from pork soon
It is not too good news for the German and the Hungarian pig-market players that the number of pigs that are released in China increases by 4-7 million every year – agrarszektor.hu wrote. The pace will be slower, but self-sufficiency seems to be realistic in China. Up to now, more than one million tons of pork have been marketed in Europe.
According to preliminary calculations, the USDA forecasts 45 million pig stocks in China in 2018. This represents a 2.3 percent increase, compared to 2017. Last year pigs and pig prices fell in the country, so the supply is stabilized again. (agrarszektor.hu, Gönczi Krisztina)
