Nagy István: Allies in the region also consider it unacceptable to reduce EU agricultural resources
The four Visegrád countries, as well as Bulgaria, Croatia, Romania and Slovenia, and the Baltic states also agreed that the European Commission’s (EC) proposed reductions of EU funds for the post-2020 period in the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) are unacceptable – Nagy István, Minister of Agriculture said in Bábolna, at the Closing Ministerial meeting of the Hungarian V4 Presidency.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture’s Tuesday announcement, the head of the ministry said that the legislative proposals that were issued would put significantly more burdens on the farmers. He stressed that no more can be asked from the farmers, while the committee wants to reduce the subsidies drastically. The minister said that EU funds should continue to be received by the farmers.
