Surge in the number of conscious shoppers in Hungary
According to the first Conscious Shopper Market Report (2014-2016), the value of conscious shopper decisions was HUF 1,014 billion. From this HUF 360 billion was spent on groceries, HUF 237 billion was home costs, HUF 334 billion was spent on transport and free time and HUF 84 billion was financial expenditures.
The conclusion of the survey, conducted by the Conscious Shoppers Association, MagNet Bank and GfK, is that there is a layer of society that is willing to pay for a more sustainable world, which wants to reduce its ecological footprint, too. For instance in the last 12 months the estimated value of boycotts was HUF 129 billion – 17 percent of the adult population, more than 1.2 million people boycotted products and services on principle. //
