K&H: there is still something to make up for Hungarians preparing for a holiday abroad
Although the impact of the epidemic is slowly starting to fade from tourism, there is still plenty to gain in terms of foreign travel compared to the level before the pandemic, according to the compilation of K&H.
The survey carried out by the financial institution in the first quarter of this year shows that 68 percent of the members of the 30-59 age group planning a trip abroad for at least five days would travel in the summer. According to KSH data, in the second and third quarters of last year, Hungarians traveled abroad for several days 4.2 million times, compared to 5.5 million trips in the same period of 2019.
Although tourism has started to rise after the post-epidemic low, it is still nowhere near as good as it was before the epidemic. This may also be due to the fact that, due to the rise in prices, real wages have fallen into the negative range, thus reducing the purchasing power of Hungarians.
