The Chef’s Street
A new centre of Hungary’s culinary life is forming at the Downtown Market in Hold Street in Budapest. The Chef’s Street is true to Hungary’s traditions of the absurd: market restaurants open here without an actual market! The personality and oeuvre of Lajos Bíró greatly increase the project’s chances for success, so let’s take a closer look at his restaurant – he is also the first settler in the gallery of the marketplace. Main meals cost between HUF 1,100 and 1,700. Sandwiches are 30cm long, meats are served with salad, 250-300g sausages come with pickles and Marmonstein bread. Wines: one white and one red for HUF 250-300 per 100ml. In the morning the place opens at 8:00 and it closes at 16:00
