The coronavirus pandemic affected the largest breweries badly, but small-scale craft breweries could even grow if they adapted in time – penzcentrum.hu wrote. With the elimination of pubs, the emphasis shifted to home beer drinking and delivery, and workers often switched from taps to transport or packaging.

Closing pubs, a curfew against house parties, missed festivals and a blasting New Year’s Eve – the pandemic brought a series of restrictions that were unfavorable to this year’s brewery turnover. In the first nine months of the year, the domestic turnover of the five leading brewers fell by 6.5 percent to 4.5 million hectoliters -the Association of Hungarian Brewers said at the request of Pénzcentrum.
