Falling German poultry stocks
Due to the ban of cage poultry breed, German poultry stocks reduced significantly- said the president of the German Association of Farmers. According to Gerd Sonnleitner, more than 15 percent of the poultry stocks have disappeared.
Many of the farms quit from poultry breeding, due to the high costs for the transition. Currently, only slightly more than half of the German poultry demand produced in the Germany, the rest to be imported. Gerd Sonnleitner, considers this situation dramatic.
Due to a EU requirement this kind of traditional poultry breed can not be continued after 2012 – reports Origo.
