Fall in the price of pork
The purchase price of pork decreased drastically within a few weeks by 15-16 percent – said the Hungarian Chamber of Agriculture. The decrease occurred, despite the fact that the number of animals is the smallest in the last 60 years in the country.
According to the analysis of the Hungarian Chamber of Agriculture’s Animal Husbandry Department; The slaughterhouses slaughter one-third less, than a few years ago. The main reason for the drop, is the strengthening of the forint and the processed and imported living pigs from Western European countries. The Central Statistical Offices’ data show that the number of pigs decreased by 6 percent in the first half 2009.
