While Hungary saw only a moderate increase in egg prices at the beginning of 2026, the European Union took a spectacular turn on the import side: according to data from the European Commission, EU27 egg and egg product imports increased by 56% in the first nine months of 2025, to 133 thousand tonnes, and more than three quarters of the imports came from Ukraine and It came from the United Kingdom.
