Fat on top
The average rate of inflation was 0.5 percent in March. Prices were up by 2.9 percent compared to March 2008. According to KSH figures, food prices were up by 0.7 percent in March, compared to February. Food produced higher than average price rise (5.2 percent) on a year on year basis. Swine fat showed the most substantial price rise (43 percent), with rice producing 23.1 percent and pork 15 percent. The price of cheese and flour dropped in the same period.
