Vegetables for Children’s Day – foodora is preparing a surprising promotion
Foodora is announcing a fruit and vegetable promotion on the occasion of Children’s Day, so that healthy options are emphasized instead of sweets on this day. In Hungary, the consumption of vegetables and fruits is far below the recommended level, and according to foodora’s internal survey, broccoli is considered a moderately rejected vegetable among the under-18 age group, and 11% of the family members of those surveyed treat it as a banned product. foodora wants to overcome this social rejection and provide parents with quick help, even within half an hour.
According to the latest data from the ELTE HBSC (Health Behaviour in School-aged Children) international lifestyle research, vegetable and fruit consumption among adolescents living in Hungary is still significantly below the internationally recommended amount. “Daily fruit and vegetable consumption is typical for less than 30% of young people. The previously experienced gender difference (with more favorable values for girls) is no longer visible today. The proportions decrease significantly with age. After a significant improving trend since 2002, stagnation has been visible since 2014.” (source HBSC 2022)
Conscious shopping in half an hour
According to foodora’s order data, interest in fresh products, including vegetables and fruits, has been steadily increasing in recent years. In addition to the composition of baskets, this trend is also reflected in the diversity of different basket types; by the first half of 2025, targeted, special purchases that fit a specific life situation, day or time of day will typically dominate the platform.
“The main goal of foodora is to provide an accessible and flexible service that can offer a solution to any user’s life situation. A family event like Children’s Day is the perfect opportunity to spend our precious time not shopping and queuing, but with each other.”
– said Péter Garay, CEO of foodora.
