The market expanded
The latest trends in food consumption had a favourable effect on the frozen vegetable market. Nielsen measures turnover in four retail chains of key importance. In the October 2009-September 2010 period their revenues in the frozen vegetable categories increased by 8 percent and neared HUF 7 billion. In terms of volume Nielsen registered an 11-percent growth from the previous period, with turnover reaching the 13,000-ton threshold. Mono packaging realised 72 percent of sales, pea was the most popular, followed by French bean and spinach. Vegetable mixes were at 28 percent. The volume weighted average price of 1 kg of frozen vegetable was HUF 539 in August-September 2009
