Green public procurement workshop to spread good practices in green public procurement
The Public Procurement Authority, in cooperation with the National Association of Public Procurement Consultants, launched a new, practice-oriented workshop series on 9 December, which helps law enforcement agencies apply environmental considerations correctly. The aim of the events is to support contracting authorities and tenderers in interpreting environmental requirements and to provide guidance on developing good practices.
Government Decree 235/2024. (VIII. 8.) makes the application of environmental requirements mandatory in several procurement areas from 1 January 2025. According to the Authority’s experience, compliance with the legislation poses a serious challenge for those involved, which is why the series of events offers practical knowledge: it presents the most important provisions, typical interpretation issues, and good practices that are already working in public procurement procedures.
The first event – on 9 December – focuses on green requirements related to indoor cleaning services. The workshop will discuss, among other things, legal interpretation issues related to green indoor cleaning services, the correct application of eco-labels, and practical solutions that help comply with legal requirements.
“The aim of the government decree is to truly integrate green requirements into domestic public procurement procedures. With the new workshop series, we are helping contracting authorities and bidders to apply these requirements with confidence and thus contribute significantly to the consistent enforcement of sustainability considerations.”
– said Dr. László Kovács, President of the Public Procurement Authority.
“According to the indications received from public procurement consultants, many questions still arise during the practical application of the government decree, and some of these concern environmental professional knowledge related to the subject of the procurement. The workshop series therefore provides support not only by transferring public procurement but also by transferring professional knowledge.”
– added Dr. Ágnes Hubai, board member of the National Association of Public Procurement Consultants.
