Green initiatives at ALDI
ALDI Magyarország has announced its tree planting application last spring for Hungarian primary schools. The students studying in the winning institutions can now monitor the life of trees and shrubs in their yards. The initiative is part of the commitment of the discount chain to sustainability.
ALDI in its climate strategy set out in 2015 has taken a global commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 30 percent in the sales area by 2020, compared to the 2012 levels. Last year, since the end of March, the entire power demand of the stores, central office buildings and logistics centers of ALDI Hungary are covered by the green electricity purchased from MOL and thus reduced the carbon dioxide emissions from electricity consumption to zero.
