Green transition on the air conditioning market
This article is available for reading in Trade magazin 2026/02-03
Global trends clearly point the way forward: in addition to energy efficiency, environmentally friendly refrigerants and intelligent control solutions will determine the future of air conditioning technology developments. Several factors have shaped the heating, cooling, ventilation and air conditioning market in recent years. Fluctuations in energy prices have led to increased demand for energy-efficient equipment, while disruptions in supply chains and stricter refrigerant regulations have required significant adaptation.

Alongside energy efficiency, environmentally friendly refrigerants and intelligent control solutions will shape the future of climate technology development
On a wide spectrum
In addition to comfort cooling and heating, Daikin Hungary also works with a number of commercial and industrial customers, paying close attention to energy efficiency and low CO2 emissions. They operate following the Total Solutions principle.

managing director
Daikin Hungary
“We offer solutions for temperature requirements between -45 °C and +80 °C. In Vienna there is already a whole district that is supplied with cooling and heating energy by a Daikin system”,
says Balázs Zuggó, managing director of Daikin Hungary Kft.
Among their new products in 2025 we can find the fourth-generation Altherma air-to-water heat pump with two types of refrigerant (R290 and R454C) and the CO2 VRV system.
LG’s residential split air conditioners, MULTI V VRF systems, Therma V heat pumps, heat recovery air handling units and R32 refrigerant Inverter Scroll liquid coolers – all of them are available in Hungary – give answers to the latest challenges.

“LG’s cooling and heating solutions are entirely based on our own development and manufacturing, from the compressor to the control chip. Our new LG BECON Cloud platform offers real-time remote monitoring, troubleshooting and predictive maintenance”,
explains Dávid Jenei, design support sales engineer for LG’s air conditioning business in Hungary.
The company also has solutions that meet ESG requirement, and its equipment contributes to earning BREEAM and LEED certifications.

Refrigerating food alone can account for as much as 40 per cent of total energy consumption
Innovation and comfort
On the residential and commercial air conditioning market it is essential that a wide performance range is accompanied by fast controllability and energy-efficient operation. The F-gas regulation (which came into force in 2024) is pushing manufacturers towards the use of environmentally friendly refrigerants and Samsung has responded actively to this challenge.
“In recent years we have introduced a premium heat pump series, R290 refrigerant appliances, and Wi-Fi-compatible split air conditioners that can be integrated into the SmartThings system. Our new BESPOKE AI WindFree™ product line offers draft-free cooling, low noise levels and AI-powered energy management”,
explains Tibor Katona, business development manager at the air conditioning division of Samsung Electronics.

Tamás Medgyesi
managing director
Polar Klíma
Polar Klíma’s product portfolio covers the needs of residential, commercial and industrial users alike. Their inverter split units stand out for their low noise levels and reliability, while the company’s VRF systems provide energy-efficient and flexible control in larger buildings. Depending on the configuration and design chosen, the installed systems come with a 5-, 7- or even 10-year warranty.
“2025 is a milestone year in our company’s history: our new AI-powered climate control system can automatically optimise its operation based on building use patterns, occupancy data, weather forecasts and dynamically changing energy prices”,
says managing director Tamás Medgyesi.

Disruptions in supply chains and the tightening of refrigerant regulations have required significant adaptation from market players
Reliability and flexibility
Energy-efficient operation is a main requirement in all categories and areas of use on the market today. With the proliferation of AI technology air conditioners have reached a new level: they are able to learn usage patterns, automatically regulate their operation and ensure more precise operation.
“Besides food industry, logistics and technological cooling projects, we also deliver air conditioning services to museums and office buildings”,
reports Richárd Brandlhofer, marketing brand manager of Columbus Klíma.
The company’s services don’t end with the installation of equipment: their extensive service network and remote diagnostic solutions enable immediate response.

Zsolt Laki
managing director
Allin Property Services
In addition to its classic comfort and technological cooling, heating and ventilation services, Allin Property Services Kft. has expanded its portfolio with tools suitable for situations requiring immediate intervention, recognising the growing demand for mobile cooling and heating. The company also offers industrial systems capable of storing heat or cold energy.
“We start every project with a return on investment calculation based on data provided by the customer, and we also train the user personnel”,
we learn from Zsolt Laki, managing director of Allin Property Services Kft.
Their 2025 product range includes the RexNordic EcoCooler evaporative cooler, which is available in three air delivery capacities (14,000 / 25,000 / 48,000m³/h).
