The National Wine Competition will be held in Zala county
The 33rd National Wine Competition will be held in the Zala Wine Region, between May 15 and 16 – told the organizer, the National Council of Wine Communities (HNT) to MTI on Monday.
The 33rd National Wine Competition will be organized by the National Council of Wine Communities (HNT) – under the patronage of the Ministry of Rural Development – in cooperation with the Hungarian Academy of Wine and the National Association of Hungarian Wine Orders.
Horváth Csaba, General Secretary of the HNT told MTI that last year about 2.5 million hectoliters of wine was produced in Hungary. This amount is below the usual average, 3.0 to 3.5 million hectoliters.
The Secretary-General indicated that the winter frosts caused major damage in the Kunság, Hajós-Bajai and Csongrád wine regions. Easter frost did not cause significant damages in the vineyards. He added: it seems that grape production in Hungary will not be above average this year. (MTI)
