WOLT CEO: you can earn a lot of money as a courier with a lot of work
Orsolya Hartyányi, the new executive director of WOLT appointed in the fall of 2023, gave an interview to Pénzcentrum, where she touched on several important topics: the European case of platform workers, the dynamic growth of the company, the consequences of the elimination of KATA, the effects of inflation, and the safety of ordering food from WOLT.
During the interview, the failed agreement in Brussels regarding platform workers was raised. Hartyányi said that WOLT wants a framework that is acceptable to everyone and is based on agreement in the field of platform work. The company currently operates in 16 EU countries and closely cooperates with the EU and local ministries. According to a survey conducted by WOLT, the vast majority of couriers, around 90 percent, do not want to be traditional employees, as flexibility is the most important thing for them.
Talking about the dynamic growth in the number of couriers, Hartyányi explained that WOLT currently works with more than 8,000 courier partners and is already present in more than 60 Hungarian cities. In terms of payments, flexibility greatly affects the amounts, and the calculation of address money is based on a complex system, taking into account the means of the couriers, the length of the delivery, the weight and value of the package.
