WHO – pandemic alert is on phase 4.
The WHO has raised the level of the swine influenza pandemic alert from the current phase 3 to phase 4.
Phase 1 means: low risk of human cases,
on the other hand in phase 6 disease has a strong, sustained human to
human spread. In Phase 3, an animal or human-animal influenza
reassortant virus has caused sporadic cases or small clusters of
disease in people, but has not resulted in human-to-human
transmission sufficient to sustain community-level outbreaks. Phase 4
means: that a new virus can cause human-to-human transmission and
able to arise the epidemic at community-level, and significantly
increased the risk of global pandemic, but the outbreak is not
certain yet.
