Germans reluctant to trust AI with their purchases

A recent survey has revealed that the vast majority of Germans would only allow AI to handle their purchases under strict control.

Women show stronger support for requiring human approval in AI‑based purchases (53%) than men (44%)

Based on research conducted by Riverty and Adyen in December 2025, 93% of respondents expect to be able to stop or review AI decisions at any time, and nearly 50% insist that purchases – especially for higher-value or sensitive products – ultimately require human approval. Half of those surveyed would entrust an AI agent with a maximum of EUR 50/month.
