VM: watermelons from Romania were seized in Békés County
About 23 tons of watermelons from Romania in a value of nearly one million HUF were seized by the authorities on Thursday in Békés County – Budai Gyula Minister of State of the Ministry of Rural Development (VM) responsible for Parliamentary Affairs informed MTI on Friday.
Budai Gyula told that on the basis of the National Tax and Customs Administration (NAV), the staff of the Plant and Soil Conservation Board of the Békés County Government Office held a control at a Nagybánhegyes-based site of a Kecskemét-based company.
The authorities have seized watermelons in a total of 64 boxes each weighted 360 kilograms.
The company that is a distributor of melons indicated the Romanian watermelons as Hungarian products and wanted them to sell in Slovakia. (MTI)
