VM: the government would offer more protection to seed producers

The government would offer more protection to seed producers with its new proposal on state recognition of plant species as well as on the production and marketing of seed materials. The proposal was adopted by the Cabinet, it will soon be submitted to the parliament.

In connection with the amendment, the Ministry of Rural Development (VM) points out on the kormany.hu website, that the hungarian seed is a strategy product, and therefore the production and production capacity expansion is a national economy and food security interest. Hungary’s ecological conditions, seed production and processing traditions and experiences, as well the logistical advantages can make seed production as the one of the most successful sector of the domestic agriculture.
