Ministry of Rural Development: there will be enough food and feed grains in the country this year

The domestic cereal harvest will be plentiful this year and it will cover the country's needs of food and feed. From wheat and barley, the significant quantities will be enough for export – the Ministry of Rural Development (VM) told MTI on Tuesday.

The Ministry of Rural Development (VM) says that 62 percent (1.093 million hectares) of the 1,774 million hectares of land area to be harvested in 2013 is winter wheat, while 11 percent – 193 thousand hectares is winter barley crop.

The farmers have almost finihed the harvest of the winter barley. 99 percent of the crop is already in the granaries. The average yield is 4.46 tons / hectare, that is significantly higher than last year's 3.8 tons per hectare yield.
