According to them, applications can be submitted to the Hungarian State Treasury between July 1 and July 31, 2025, using the electronic form designed for this purpose. The program, with a budget of more than 2 billion forints, offers compensation support to small producers most exposed to risks for a three-year suspension of their production activities, the statement said.
The majority of bird flu outbreaks occur in Bács-Kiskun, Békés and Csongrád-Csanád counties, where the density of farms is typically high
The aim of the support is to reduce the risk of epidemics by reducing the number of farms, which primarily affects waterfowl farms. The maximum amount of support that can be applied for per enterprise is 50 thousand euros, and the decision will be made in the order in which applications are received. Applicants will receive the support by November 15, 2025, and the cessation of breeding at the holding site must be reported within 60 days of the disbursement of the support – the announcement reads. According to their information, the farmer must also undertake not to keep poultry in the designated area, not to establish new poultry farms in the areas most affected by bird flu, and not to establish new waterfowl farms throughout the country. According to the ministry’s statement, the measure could significantly reduce the number of bird flu outbreaks, as well as reduce the negative market effects and disease control restrictions on the poultry sector.
