Consumer confidence in the United States is improving

The confidence indicator of Conference Board's the leading market research group increased to 54.9 points in May after April’s 40.8 points. The prior expectation was only 42.3 points.

By the improvement of the atmosphere, the private consumption could increase, which gives two third part of the U.S. economy. The index has not been this high since last September. In particular, there are indications of improvement in the labor market, which strengthened the confidence of American consumers. The stock market boom and the decline in mortgage also took an important role. According to analysts there is an increasing expectation that the U.S. economy can reach the growth phase in the second half of the year.
