Coca-Cola’s retro favorite is back – Mr. Pibb is back on sale
After a twenty-five-year hiatus, the Coca-Cola Company is relaunching one of its most unique soft drinks, Mr. Pibb, as reported by vince.hu. Originally introduced in 1972, the caramel-spice-cherry-flavored drink was created as a competitor to Dr Pepper, and although it never achieved its popularity, it gained a cult fan base in the United States.
The brand was discontinued in 2001, but now Coca-Cola is building on the power of nostalgia to make the product available again – with a modernized composition. The new version of the drink contains 30 percent more caffeine than the original version and also receives updated packaging that combines retro style with contemporary design.
With the return of Mr. Pibb, Coca-Cola is responding to the growing consumer demand for unique flavors and nostalgic brands. The manufacturer will begin the introduction gradually in the United States market, but it is expected that the product will be available in a limited edition form in several European countries, including Hungary, from 2026.
The revival of Mr. Pibb fits into the company’s diversified portfolio strategy, which aims to increase its market share in the non-alcoholic beverage segment by rethinking iconic brands and strengthening the consumer experience.
