Euro area’s retail sales have declined
In July, retail sales volume fell in the euro area on monthly and on annual levels – said EU's statistical office the Eurostat announced on Wednesday.
Retail sales on a monthly basis, fell in the euro area by 0.2 percent in July, after two months of increase which met the analysts' expectations. On an annual basis the decline was 1.7 percent, which exceeded the expectations of experts who forecasted a 1.5 percent decrease. Within the eurozone to the largest decline in retail sales in July was measured in Portugal: an annual 7.6 percent.
In the euro zone's largest economy, in Germany, retail sales in July declined by 0.9 percent on a monthly basis, and by 1 percent on an annual basis. In the 27-member EU, retail trade remained stable in July compared to June and declined by 0.2 percent compared to last July. (tozsdeforum.hu)
