Guest traffic decreased

According to Central Statistical Office the number of foreign and domestic visitors in 2009. January and in April decreased by 16, and 8 percentage points compared to the results of last year.

The number of overnight stays by foreign visitors in the first four months of the year is decreased by 14 percent compared to last year. The domestic turnover  decreased by 8 percent compared to 2008. In the first four months of 2009, 706 thousand foreign guests spent 1916 thousands nights, 895 domestic guests spent 1938 thousand guest nights at commercial accommodations. There is a decrease in guests from the five largest sending country; Austria, Germany, Romania, Great Britain and Italy. The rate of businessman arriving with official purpose, such as conference or congress is 37 percent, those who chose health tourism has a 14 percent rate. The hotel room occupancy was 31 percent, the room occupancy  of spas and spa hotels were 49.9 percent which is a 8 percent decline. The total gross sales of the hotels in Hungary were 57 billion HUF.
