Duck and goose slaughtering numbers have fallen
According to AKI slaughter statistics, 545.1 thousand tonnes (live weight) of poultry were slaughtered in Hungary in the first nine months of 2025, 0.8 percent less than between January and September 2024; of which 429.7 thousand tonnes of broiler chickens (+8.4 percent), 54.2 thousand tonnes of broiler turkeys (+4.7 percent), 44.4 thousand tonnes of broiler ducks (–46.4 percent), 12.6 thousand tonnes of broiler geese (–7.0 percent), and 4.3 thousand tonnes of broiler hens and roosters (–12.2 percent).

According to European Commission data, the EU average price of whole chickens was 292 euros/100 kilograms in the first forty-six weeks of 2025, which exceeded the value of the same period of the previous year by 8 percent. According to AKI PÁIR data, the live weight producer price of slaughter chicken in Hungary increased by 8.0 percent to 447.7 HUF/kilogram, and that of slaughter turkey by 9.2 percent to 644.0 HUF/kilogram in the first forty-six weeks of 2025 compared to the same period of the previous year. The processing sales price of chicken breast fillet was 2015.9 HUF/kilogram (+14.5 percent), bone-in chicken breast was 1271.5 HUF/kilogram (+8.8 percent), chicken breast (total) was 1924.5 HUF/kilogram (+11.2 percent), and chicken leg was 919.7 HUF/kilogram (+4.7 percent) in the observed period.
