Visit Hungary Zrt.: the resumption of Budapest-Philadelphia flights is good news for Hungarian tourism

Olivér Csendes set a medium and long-term goal in connection with the direct flight to make it not just seasonal, which will operate from May to October in the first year.

He added that he hopes the numbers will be so impressive that American Airlines will later expand the flight to a year-round service, and that other airlines will join in and offer direct flights to Budapest from other American cities.

He indicated that almost 400,000 American guests have visited Hungary annually so far, but with this direct flight, travel will be easier, more predictable and hopefully cheaper.

He said that American tourists like Hungary’s architectural heritage and culture, and Hungarian wines and Danube cruises are also popular among them.

Regarding the Budapest-Philadelphia direct flight, he said that the daily flight will take off from Budapest at 11:25 and arrive in Philadelphia at 3:00 p.m. local time, return from there in the evening and arrive at Liszt Ferenc Airport at 9:25 the next day.

Olivér Csendes also drew attention to the fact that Philadelphia is one of the largest hubs for American Airlines, with 100 direct flights departing from there to various cities in America, thus “practically opening up the whole of North America” to Hungary.
