Visa: 83 percent of Hungarians traveling abroad pay by bank card
This year, 32 percent of Hungarians plan to travel abroad, and 83 percent of them indicated that they would like to pay with a bank card or smart device during their trip, said the head of Visa’s area responsible for Hungary at the press conference in Budapest on Wednesday in Budapest.
Bence Sármay added that, based on the results of the survey, Hungarians are at the forefront in the use of digital payments in the region. He said that among the main destinations of Hungarian tourists traveling abroad, Croatia ranks first, followed by Italy, Austria and Greece.
The survey covering 8 countries of the region (Hungary, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria) was carried out by the Kantar research company on behalf of Visa. 1,000 people between the ages of 18 and 65 were involved in the representative research conducted in March of this year in all the countries concerned.
Bence Sármay pointed out that almost 50 percent of Hungarians planning a trip abroad stated that neither inflation nor the rise in the cost of living would deter them from their travel plans.
