Syngenta presents virus-resistant vegetable varieties at Fruit Logistic
In addition to several award-winning vegetable varieties, Syngenta’s Vegetable Seeds division is waiting for the audience with a number of innovative new products at the 2024 Fruit Logistica exhibition, which Berlin will host on February 7-9. between.
As one of the leading agricultural companies in the world, it is a strategic goal for Syngenta to help its vegetable-producing partners in their successful farming by breeding high-quality and resistant varieties and producing their seeds. Viruses and diseases that threaten plants are one of the biggest challenges for the supply chain today, so Syngenta also places great emphasis on disease resistance.
The company is preparing for this year’s Berlin Fruit Logistic, one of the most prestigious world events in the vegetable sector, with proven, award-winning vegetable varieties and several important novelties: Syngenta’s new, virus-resistant varieties, which help producers in profitable farming, will be presented here for the first time.
Tomato Leaf Curl New Delhi Virus (ToLCNDV) can cause up to 90% yield loss in cucurbits. Without resistant varieties, growers cannot grow cucumbers in infected areas. Syngenta’s new developments, the ToLCNDV-resistant Siriana cucumber and the Delfost and Alpha zucchini varieties, offer a solution to this serious problem.
