The tourism business index (tki) stood at plus 4 points in May, which indicates that the players in the sector perceived their situation to be positive. The value of the index decreased to a minimal extent, by 1 point, in the fifth month of the year, but at the same time it exceeds its value a year ago by 6 points. In the accommodation service, the index decreased by 5 points plus 3 points, in the catering industry it did not change (stagnant at minus 2 points), while in the other tourism sector it improved by 3 points plus 13 points. In the latter subsector, the index has been improving for the third month now, and thus approached its maximum in March last year (plus 14 points).
Comparing the tki index of May 2024 with a year earlier, the data show an increase. Among the sub-sectors, the index of the other tourism sector improved significantly in an annual comparison, while that of the hospitality sector improved moderately, and that of the accommodation service slightly. All size groups showed improvement or stagnation compared to May 2023, while three of the tki sub-indices improved and two worsened over the past year, they wrote.
