Hungarian sweet corn is sought after worldwide
In recent years, sweet corn has been grown on an average of 30-34 thousand hectares in Hungary. Hajdú-Bihar county has a production area of over 10 thousand hectares, but there are also plantations of thousands of hectares in Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg, Bács-Kiskun, Békés, Csongrád and Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok counties. About 70 percent of the production area is irrigated, and super-sweet varieties are widespread, with 70 percent sown.
