A worldwide PR campaign was launched as part of the fight against climate change
45 PR agencies and communication organizations came together to work for a common goal, a campaign against climate change. The “Weather Kids” campaign of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) was launched on March 21 and has so far appeared in more than 80 countries thanks to the cooperation.
In the “Weather Kids” campaign, children around the world took control of television weather reports to predict the future they are expected to live in. In the broadcasts, the viewers were warned about the dangers associated with the rise in average temperature, which could pose a serious risk to humanity and the world economy even in a few decades. The purpose of the broadcasts was to motivate adults to change their habits (by generating significant press coverage) to serve their children’s future. The creator of the idea is Activista (it was an American creative agency).
Countless small and large PR agencies joined the campaign, including: the United States, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, Northern Ireland, Ireland, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Czech Republic, Poland, Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova, Hungary, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, China and Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, Nigeria, Kenya , South Africa, Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia.
