Support for rural restaurants
The call for proposals titled “Enhancing the Competitiveness of Rural Small and Medium-Sized Catering Enterprises” has been announced. In the first phase, restaurants can apply for a non-repayable grant of 1 million HUF!
13 billion HUF in non-repayable grants is available for catering establishments, with rural restaurants that are open all year round being the first to have the opportunity from May 27.
Eligible applicants:
• Registered in Hungary with a rural (i.e., outside Budapest) location, including:
• Business corporations;
• Civil organizations;
• Ecclesiastical legal entities;
• Sole proprietorships;
• Individual entrepreneurs;
• Tax-numbered individuals.
Eligible catering business operators:
• Must have a bank account with a Hungarian financial institution;
• Must have an NTAK registration at the time of application;
• Must have completed at least one business year;
• The operated catering business must be open all year round.
Eligible activities:
– Energy efficiency:
• LED light sources, aerators for taps;
• Improving the thermal insulation of doors and windows.
– Equipment acquisition:
• Built-in kitchen appliances and equipment;
• Other operational tools (e.g., coffee machines, snack devices, wine coolers, beer towers, kitchen prep machines, hygiene equipment, cameras);
• Enhancements to customer experience and comfort (e.g., furniture for business premises, patio heaters);
• Occupational safety equipment, protective gear (e.g., aprons, gloves, caps);
• Workwear, uniforms, protective clothing (e.g., chef and kitchen attire, server uniforms);
• Consumables directly supporting the operational functions of the catering business (e.g., kitchen tools, dishes).
Application deadline: May 27, 2024 – June 28, 2024.
Grant amount per catering business: 1 million HUF non-repayable grant.
Support intensity: 100% pre-financed support.
Project duration available: 6 months, but no later than February 28, 2025.
Additional information:
• This grant qualifies as a minor (de minimis) aid.
• Available total funding: 3 billion HUF.
• Maintenance obligation: 1 year.
In subsequent phases of the program, from June onwards, pastry shops, from July music and dance entertainment venues, and from August occasional catering businesses in rural Hungary can apply. From September, cafes and from October, snack bars will be provided funding by the Government, and beverage stores and bars can apply for further phases from November.
Assuming a grant of 1 million HUF per application, this could potentially support a total of 13,000 establishments. The funds are to be used for the acquisition of modern kitchen technologies and tools, as well as developments supporting energy-efficient and economical operation. In addition, the grants can be used to purchase smaller equipment or stocks necessary for daily operations.
