VHT: the swine sector is the loser of the EU accession
The Presidency of the Livestock and Meat Marketing Board and Interprofessional Organisation (VHT) oganized a year opening press conference to present the programs of 2014, especially to present some of the tasks associated with the swine strategy.
The professional management team of the Ministry of Rural Development (VM) also attended the press conference. Dr. Németh Antal, president of Livestock and Meat Marketing Board and Interprofessional Organisation (VHT) said in his lecture that the EU accession has posed the biggest challenge for the agricultural sector. In particular, the swine sector has suffered the biggest loss; the number of livestock was halved in 10 years, fell below 3 million, and hundreds of livestock and processing businesses were bankrupted.
