Russians are in need of seed importation
This year, the expected total yield of oilseeds can be boosted in Russia, according to the calculations of the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) – agrarszektor.hu wrote. Although they can not produce their seed needs, there is plenty of export from the produced crop. Their main buyer is China.
Russians expect nearly 17 million tons of crops from the three main oil seeds – sunflowers, rape and soy – in the 2018/19 marketing year, 7.3 percent more than in the previous year. The sunflower sowing area is unchanged, but weather conditions will be favorable this year, predicting a yield of 11.6 million tons. (Gönczi Krisztina, agrarszketor.hu)
