Moderate profit at Metro, after the lossmaking first quarter
The largest German retail network, the Metro AG reported a 48 million euros after-tax profit from the second quarter without minority shares, instead of the 453 million loss of the year earlier.
The analysts predicted 78 million euros. In the first quarter, the company had 101 million euros after-tax losses, so the result of the first half-yeas is a 53 million euros loss, which was clearly attributed to the global economic crisis, noting that the situation has improved much in the second quarter. For the second half, the company does not expect a significant change in business – reports Világgazdaság Online.
