Changes in customs practices
On 31 March 2016 the Hungarian parliament passed the law on the implementation of the new EU customs law, which in accordance with the rules of the EU Customs Code contains the national regulations of the community customs law. István Veszprémi, a Deloitte tax and legal consulting partner underlined that not only the sums of certain fines will change from 1 May 2016, but the new law also ends the system of correctional surcharges. The customs law also makes it possible to reduce a fine by 50 percent if the subject cooperates with the authorities after the start of an inspection.
