Food Codex violating competition-rules according to Hungarian Competition Authority
Food Codex has only been signed on Thursday, yet the Hungarian Competition Authority is examining the agreement as certain details may be viewed as a restraint of competition.
Hungarian Competition Authority finds it worrying that a number of regulations are decribed in the Food Codex that may – in certain cases – increase the possibility to restrain competition which may be an obstacle when it comes to the rules of free market. It is possible that some of the regulations defined in the agreement are agains the rules of the European Union, especially the chapters about the percentage of Hungarian and non-Hungarian goods in supermarkets.
